Panama Open Air

Panama Open Air was the electronic, pop and rap weekend at the Freizeitpark Rheinaue in Bonn, run by Panama Open Air GmbH. The name is not the country: the grounds are the park by the Rhine, with green hills that look over the floor. The festival page, and a Travelcircus text, say it began as a rave among friends. There is no start year that lands on one figure. In 2018 a ticket was about 50 to 60 euros. In 2023 Travelcircus put it at 69.90 euros for all days. On 6 August 2024 Radio Bonn writes that the GmbH filed for insolvency at the Bonn court and that from Friday noon it could no longer pay. The administrator, a lawyer from the city, had to see whether the business went on. There is no later edition that has been verified. The front page that still talks about a return in 2024 went stale. Radio Bonn adds that it was unclear whether the artists and the staff of that edition would still be paid. Shortly before the concerts the tickets went out at a large discount, and they were pushed again to the people who live beside the Rheinaue. The station says far too few tickets were sold. The 2024 ticket page names four stages and more than 65 acts. A note carried by DJ Guide names the stages POA808 and OASIS beside the Heat Stage that Gajewski already names in 2023. Those are names from the announcement, not a tune that was walked.

Helena Gajewski, on bonnFM on 4 July 2023, walks the Friday and Saturday of the week before. She counts more than 50,000 people, as many as never, and at the same time leaves it among the smaller festivals in Germany. Travelcircus, in a table for that summer, puts 25,000. Both figures stay. From the hills you see the grounds. Deutsche Post has a stall: it takes photos and sends them as postcards. Bracelets are knotted for 10 euros. There are dried-flower bunches, a spot for finding whoever got lost, and hammocks. The website said payment was card only. The grounds' mobile network fell, at many food and drink stalls the card did not go through, and cash remained. Anyone without cash stood with empty hands. The toilets were too few for that crowd. The water taps, which had promised short queues, failed in part.

On Friday Martin Garrix headlines. Gajewski notes no title for him. Wiz Khalifa cancels the European tour because of illness, a few hours before. SSIO, from Bonn, comes in. He says they called him in the shower and that he took Khalifa's fee, and he dedicates it to his liebsten Krümel from Bonn. On Saturday Marteria plays, and among the songs Gajewski names Kids (Zwei Finger an den Kopf). Cascada comes out with two dancers and with Everytime We Touch. That is the title that closes the sentence. At night HBz is on the Heat Stage, I Hate Models plays techno beside them and Skrillex takes the main stage. Gajewski says there was no better combination for the Saturday close, and she leaves no other title for those three.

After the set, bonnFM talks with HBz. Niklas and Nils are spent and glad. Nils says he gets nervous, with a stomachache, and that Nicki goes into a concentration mode. They say that just then they like a new single best, still fresh, and they give it no name, and that Lebenslang is a long-term favorite. That is the interview, not the list of that hour. On stage, Gajewski writes, the chaos of the tills and the water did not show.

RAVEPEDIA walks 13 and 14 July 2018, also at the Rheinaue. On Friday, on the main stage, Zonderling plays No Good, the track of that time with Don Diablo. Oliver Heldens has the longest set, an hour and a half, with steps on the booth, deeper tracks in the Hi-Lo manner, confetti, fire and fireworks, and leaves no other title. Lost Frequencies and Pan-Pot are on that note's bill, with no piece. The text says the stages are smaller than at the huge festivals and that the crowd stands close, and that bus, train or car all get you there. A user-list page also puts Dekon on 20 July 2018. That date stays beside the other, without copying the list.

On 28 and 29 June 2024 the ticket-shop bill puts Rita Ora and Tyga on Friday, and Swedish House Mafia on Saturday as the exclusive German show of that summer, with Bonez MC, Chase & Status, Héctor Oaks, Meduza and Tyla, among others. That is a bill. The 18 July 2024 note in the General-Anzeiger says the production costs millions and that, two weeks after that edition, the future is not clear. In August the insolvency arrives. No tune from that June is walked. The day with titles is Gajewski's, in 2023, and Zonderling's No Good, in 2018.
