ROMP Festival

ROMP si vive a Yellow Creek Park, 5710 Kentucky Highway 144, Owensboro, Kentucky, codice 42303, a est della città. Lo produce il Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum, al 311 West 2nd Street, codice 42301, e il festival è la sua raccolta principale. Il parco ha un lago con pesca, sentieri e il Jim Lambert Pioneer Village. La contea lo apre in estate, da aprile a ottobre, tra le 8 e le 23, e ci sono quattro tettoie con tavoli, griglia e luce. Il festival occupa il recinto a fine giugno, da mercoledì a sabato. In quei giorni un tram gratis scende al centro, al palco Envision dell'atrio del museo. Nel recinto ci sono tende e camper. Dal 24 al 27 giugno 2026 fu il 23º.

Sabato 29 giugno 2024, nello stesso parco, Sierra Hull suona How Long, Boom, il terzo movimento del Bluegrass Concerto, titolato Pray, Beautifully Out of Place, Chasin' Skies, I Feel the Blues Moving In, di Del McCoury, con Jerry Douglas, Sunshine, di Mickey Newbury, anche con Douglas, Mad World, dei Tears for Fears, E Tune, Choices and Changes, Stomping Grounds, di Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, Come Out of My Blues e Lord, That's a Long Way. Nel cartellone di quell'anno ci sono Dierks Bentley, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Marty Stuart e Leftover Salmon.

Giovedì 26 giugno 2025, la registrazione dal vivo di Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country segna Broadside Ballad, Hangman's Reel, Riding That Midnight Train, con Molly Tuttle alla chitarra e alla voce, Blame The Train, (I Heard That) Lonesome Whistle, About The Angels, Ghost Riders In The Sky in strumentale, Better Deal Blues, Yonder, Forgotten Days e Double Exposure. Il giorno dopo, il 27, la registrazione di Fireside Collective segna Winding Road, Back To Caroline, Cabin Song, Owensboro Funk, Drivin' Through the Rain, Memphis In the Morning, Old Wooden Ship, Wreckage Jam, Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes, Will You Be Lonesome Too? e Let It Ride. Il cartellone del 2025 nomina Wynonna Judd, Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush e The Dillards.

Il primo ROMP è quello del 2004. Nel 2011 il cartellone porta Steve Martin con gli Steep Canyon Rangers ed Emmylou Harris. Nel 2012, Vince Gill e Old Crow Medicine Show. Nel 2013, Merle Haggard. Nel 2015, John Prine. Nel 2016 il cartellone porta Old Crow Medicine Show, Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush, gli Earls of Leicester, gli Infamous Stringdusters, Steep Canyon Rangers e Lee Ann Womack. Nel 2017, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Punch Brothers, Los Lobos e Yonder Mountain String Band. Nel 2018, Alison Krauss. Nel 2019, Ricky Skaggs con Patty Loveless, Del McCoury Band, Trampled by Turtles, Steve Earle & The Dukes e Billy Strings.

Nel 2023 il cartellone porta Old Crow Medicine Show, Greensky Bluegrass, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Sam Bush, The Infamous Stringdusters, Molly Tuttle, Rhonda Vincent e Tuba Skinny. Il 2020 fu l'anno virtuale. Nel 2021 il cartellone porta Bruce Hornsby e Robert Earl Keen. Nel 2022, Punch Brothers e Rhiannon Giddens. Il cartellone di giugno 2026 nomina I'm With Her, Punch Brothers, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Del McCoury Band, The Infamous Stringdusters, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage e Dan Tyminski Band. Figurano anche The Brothers Comatose, Shadowgrass, Michael Cleveland & Jason Carter, Della Mae, Trey Hensley Band, East Nash Grass, Mason Via e Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen. Il parco di fine giugno continua con il lago accanto, il tram verso il museo e quattro giorni di bluegrass, con laboratori e il villaggio dei pionieri a pochi passi.

Dal 24 al 27 giugno 2026 fu il ventitreesimo, da mercoledì a sabato, con il tram gratis fino al palco Envision. Sierra Hull chiuse il suo ordine del 29 giugno 2024 con Lord, That's a Long Way. Daniel Donato chiuse la registrazione del 26 giugno 2025 con Double Exposure, e Fireside Collective quella del 27 con Let It Ride. Il museo, al 311 di West 2nd Street, continua a produrre il fine settimana del parco, con il lago e il Jim Lambert Pioneer Village accanto.
