Moondance

Moondance is the jungle, drum and bass and old-skool afternoon that returns to KOKO, at 1A Camden High Street, in London. The building was the Camden Palace. Today the theatre is listed Grade II. The house that writes is EHM Productions: the page's mail is moondanceevents@ehmproductions.com and the phone is 07307 689 531. Entry is for people 18 and over with a photo ID. The sheet says it in capitals: no identification, no entry. A passport, a driving licence or a PASS card will do.

The day a listing marks as finished is Saturday 12 April 2025. Doors open at 1 p.m. Last entry is at 6 p.m. The close is at 9 p.m. The sheet for Saturday 13 April 2024, on Slipmatt's page, sets the start at 1 p.m. and a surcharge: anyone on an early-entry ticket who arrives after 2 p.m. pays 10 pounds more, in cash. The VIP ticket on that sheet includes a fast-track queue and a box with its own bar and a view of the stage. Each ticket carries a 1.75-pound restoration levy for KOKO. There are two rooms. The main one carries the jungle anthems. The second carries another run of DJs and MCs. Those hours and those prices are sheets, not a review of every record. The 2024 sheet calls the day Camden Palace Reunion and describes three ways of hearing the past: DJ Hype on jungle classics, Micky Finn on a return to 1993, Ratpack on a block of 1991 and 1992. The same sheet prints DJ Rap, Slipmatt and the pair DJ Phantasy with Nicky Blackmarket. The MCs printed there are GQ, IC3, Chalkie White, Five Alive and Deefa. None of that is an exit review: it is the ticket text. The 2025 address closes the postcode at NW1 7JE. Slipmatt's stops at NW1 7. It is the same theatre door on that street. The current page points to a guide for the day, with times, and heads the line Freedom to Dance. The ticket line says the 1.75 pounds on each ticket go straight into the upkeep and the ongoing restoration of the listed theatre.

On Saturday 19 July 2014 Resident Advisor calls the day the fourth Camden Palace Reunion and describes it as a return to Moondance's spiritual home. Rave Archive holds five recordings of that afternoon, and it separates what can be heard from what was only advertised. What can be heard: Huck Finn, Rob Blake, Matt Emulsion and Stuart J; Sense and Snypa with MC Fusion; Billy Daniel Bunter with MC Whizzkid; Danny Byrd with MC Five Alive; Randall and Storm with MC Moose. The advertised bill was wider: Slipmatt, Ratpack, Phantasy, Twista and Trix, Jenna G and a second room. The archive says those five copies are not the whole day.

A recording of 21 August 2011 carries the same reunion name: Billy Bunter and Slipmatt, with Charlie B and Moose. Resident Advisor's listing for Saturday 18 July 2015 says they were back after four reunions in a row with the tickets sold out, again at that house, at prices from 20 to 25 pounds. In 2013 a Brain Damage Radio note announces the EHM Old Skool awards in the main room, between 12:15 and 12:30 a.m., presented by MC MC, inside the takeover of 20 July. That is the announcement of the slot, not a review of the ceremony.

The company page says that, over the years, Andy C, DJ Hype, Fabio and Grooverider and Shy FX have appeared. It does not tie those names to a single afternoon. It speaks of jungle, of drum and bass and of hardcore, and of a "no attitude" rule: a place to dance without posing. It has run for more than two decades. It does not print the year of the first day. The merchandise sits at Raveshop. The company text calls the gathering one of the busiest in London. That sentence is the page's.

The same page heads a Moondance 31 for 26 September 2026 and another afternoon at KOKO on 12 December 2026. Those two dates are on sale. These papers do not walk them. The page also names an annual festival and a weekender as other dates. This text is the afternoon at the Camden theatre. There is no camp in these sheets: the day closes at night and people step out onto Camden High Street. The afternoon with dated recordings is 19 July 2014. The hours with the day marked finished are 12 April 2025.
