Outlaw Country Cruise

Outlaw Country Cruise is the country sailing that Sixthman, of Atlanta, puts on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, with SiriusXM's Outlaw Country channel and Stevie Van Zandt's production company Renegade Circus. On board the day splits among the Atrium, the Stardust Theater, the room Magnums and the pool deck, with SiriusXM sessions taped for later broadcast. The homepage, read on 28 September 2026, sells another sailing on the Norwegian Jewel, from Miami to Key West and Ocho Rios, and calls it the eleventh year. Those calendar digits are not printed. The lived sailing that supplies the format is 20–25 March 2026, on the Norwegian Pearl, from Miami to Harvest Caye, Belize, and Roatan, Honduras. Kevin Wierzbicki, in antimusic, calls it the tenth anniversary.

20 March fell on the first day of spring. First in the Atrium was Summer Dean, from Texas, with Geoff Queen on pedal steel. She sang Somebody's Knockin', Yes Ma'am, He Found Me in a Honky Tonk, She Ain't Me and She's in His Arms But I'm in the Palm of His Hand. She dedicated She Ain't Me to her future mother-in-law and recalled that Leona Williams, then married to Merle Haggard, had released it earlier, and that she herself had sung it at her Grand Ole Opry debut. After that, on the pool deck, the family photo and a complimentary whiskey sour. Jesse Dayton played the sail-away from Miami. He did Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out of Hand, by Waylon Jennings, and told how Waylon once said they wanted him on the Lola Falana tour. Dayton later understood he meant Lollapalooza. Also heard: The Ballad of Boyd Elder, Daddy Was a Badass, with a long guitar solo, and I May Have to Do It (Don't Have to Like It).

That same day, Wierzbicki writes that Southern Culture on the Skids packed the Atrium with Nitty Gritty and Liquored Up and Lacquered Down. Those two titles sit in the catalog of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, who were also on the ship. The review does not split the two attributions, and both stay. Andrew Leahey, solo and acoustic in Magnums, took the request for Guilty Man. Swamp Dogg, in the Stardust, was near 84. Heard: The World Beyond, If I Die Tomorrow (I've Lived Tonight) and (Don't Take Her) She's All I Got, a hit for Johnny Paycheck. The page notes the credit to Jerry Williams, Jr., Swamp Dogg's civil name, with Gary U.S. Bonds. He joked that Social Security had stopped and that he would welcome a Zelle transfer. The swearing in his asides is not copied.

21 March was the first of two days at sea. Asleep at the Wheel, with Ray Benson, played Miles and Miles of Texas, Milk Cow Blues, Bobby Troup's (Get Your Kicks On) Route 66, Faded Love by Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys and Waylon Jennings's Bob Wills Is Still the King. Fiddle, steel and Benson's low voice. The trio Unbepamen, Matt Stevens, Pete Murcott and Billy Hamill, took turns on acoustic guitars with their own songs, and the review names no title. Roland Dixon was solo too, with no piece named. On the pool deck, NOCONA, and the photo names Chris Isom, with no song. At Liberty Tattoo, Jason and others applied ink. The store sold shirts, vinyl and CDs, and raffled signed Beat Farmers albums and a bass-drum head with the logo, for a charity. Elizabeth Cook's Women for Sheriff line was there, with bandannas, and a fashion show of that line came later.

On the third day the Pearl reached Harvest Caye. On the Monkey River excursion, Wierzbicki notes herons, pelicans, mangrove swallows, cormorants, iguanas the guide calls bamboo chicken, a one-second manatee, howler monkeys in the distance and a crocodile. They stopped at Monkey River Village for a snack and a local beer. Back aboard, Elizabeth Cook and her band played the sail-away, with no title in that piece. After Honduras, Shinyribs: Kevin Russell stepped into the crowd and danced with one person, and the band played Freddy Fender's Wasted Days and Wasted Nights. On the signing day, the Summer Palace dining room had tables. Jim Lauderdale stood up to hug for photos. More than a dozen came through, among them Asleep at the Wheel, Reckless Kelly, the Beat Farmers, NOCONA, Roland Dixon, Dash Rip Rock, The HawtThorns and Summer Dean. Another group had signed earlier. The ship still had the pool, hot tub, spa, casino, steak and lobster tail, a buffet with a different theme each day and sheet cakes with the cruise name.

The first sailing, according to Sixthman's history and Miami New Times, was 7–11 February 2016, on the Pearl, with a call at Grand Cayman. Rolling Stone, on 29 January 2019, calls that crossing the fourth: Lucinda Williams, 66 that Saturday, opened Right in Time in the Stardust while the ship rocked, and went through Car Wheels on a Gravel Road in full, with stories between songs and childhood images on a screen. The curator was Jeremy Tepper, of SiriusXM, with Sixthman and Renegade Circus. The Washington Post, on 11 March 2022, writes that the February 2021 sailing had been postponed, that about 1,200 people were aboard and that a cabin then cost from 1,580 to 5,300 dollars, excluding the drink package. Thomas, Sixthman's senior warrior, thanked them for sticking with it. Those 2022 figures are not a fare now. setlist.fm notes 2024 again on the Pearl and 2025 on the Norwegian Gem, on user lists, not in this review.
