Pete the Monkey Festival

Pete the Monkey Festival is the July weekend in Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, in Normandy. The site, read on 28 September 2026, says that every summer since 2012 the fishing village takes in thousands of people. Louis Dumas is a co-founder. franceinfo, on 10 July 2026, says Pete is a monkey from a video he posted about fifteen years earlier, while he worked at a reserve in Bolivia. The takings go to that cause. The site names CIWY. franceinfo writes Inti Wara Yassi. It is the same work, under both names. The association is non-profit. In 2012, the organisers tell the Courrier cauchois, it was a party among friends in an old tennis club.

The village postcode, on the JDS sheet, is 76740: Seine-Maritime, near Dieppe. franceinfo writes Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer (Calvados) and describes a beach, coloured huts, fields and cows. Both addresses stay side by side. The recent grounds are those of the château de Saint-Aubin and, on setlist.fm, the Parc Champêtre. In 2024 the festival sold out. In 2025 there was no edition: the organisers told Actu.fr they were pausing to rethink the association. They returned on 10, 11 and 12 July 2026. A Concert Archives sheet dates a 2026 show to 3 July. The organisers, JDS and Paris Normandie give 10 to 12 July. The site calls 2026 the 13th edition and also says every summer since 2012. setlist.fm lists editions in 2015-2019, 2022-2024 and 2026. The counts stay side by side. The homepage points to a later summer. That summer had not yet arrived on 28 September 2026.

franceinfo speaks of about 5,000 a day, of a bill that looks for new names, and of that weekend's heads: Kids Return, Sébastien Tellier and Yoa. Louis Dumas says they are near break-even, that tickets go quickly because many people have already come three, four, five or six times, and that there is little subsidy. Paris Normandie, on 13 July, walks the same weekend by the sea: Yoa, Étienne de Crécy, Ino Casablanca and Sébastien Tellier, stalls, workshops, acrobatics and food trucks. It closes no song. JDS says the festival teases the old 14 July ball. Tickets are sold on the festival site. The price is not on that sheet.

The night with titles is Camille Yembe's, on Sunday 12 July 2026, at the Parc Champêtre. setlist.fm, with two users, puts the start at 6:50 p.m. and the end at 7:50 p.m. The list opens with Paradoxale, continues with a song titled Encore, then Les Euros, Plastique, Long Métrage, Je ne l'ai jamais dit à personne, Peur de quoi ?, RepeatRepeatRepeat, Autodéfense, Coups de soleil and RICH. Rien à fêter appears in the body and again as the encore. That is the page's list, not a newspaper review. Lists from other days are not imported: Gans in Luxembourg, the Billie list marked as the closest, or those of Corrine, Silvestri and Yoa from other dates.

The site quotes Les Inrockuptibles, Paris Normandie, Euronews, Le Monde and The Guardian. Those sentences are theirs. The setlist page files ten of those titles on the album Jeune & Laide and three on Plastique. Paradoxale, Les Euros, Long Métrage, Je ne l'ai jamais dit à personne, Peur de quoi ?, Autodéfense, RICH, RepeatRepeatRepeat and Rien à fêter, counted twice, sit with the first. The song Encore, Plastique and Coups de soleil sit with the second. JDS, updated by the Côte d'Albâtre tourist office on 18 December 2025, calls the weekend a gathering of children and adults, with tumbles in wheat fields and a swim in the sea, and says the bill looks at the strength of the proposal before the fame of the name. The Courrier cauchois, on 21 December 2024, quotes the organisers promising a few events during the empty year and thanking the people who come, the crews, the volunteers, the collectives, the partners and the artists. The homepage still shows an aftermovie of 2024. None of those lines adds a song. The sink clip that sent the monkey round is the origin the site tells, a chimpanzee at the washbasin, not a piece from the Parc Champêtre. Paris Normandie says the weekend kept the music bill and the stalls of every kind, and still names no title. franceinfo puts beach huts on one side and cows looking for shade on the other, and calls the scale small beside the big festivals that hold on. Dumas says the public understands when prices have to move and that the wish to continue sits with the team. The monkey in the video, the dishwashing that sent it round, and the Bolivian forest stay as the origin Dumas and the page tell, not as a night in this village.

The festival continues in July, with the 2025 pause already behind it. The songs the two-user list closes on 12 July are Paradoxale, Les Euros, Plastique, Long Métrage, Coups de soleil and Rien à fêter.
