About the festival

Solar Weekend Festival is a weekend of house, techno, and hip hop at the Maasplassen, at De Weerd, in Roermond. Extrema put on the first one, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August 2005. The mail is info@solarweekend.com. The posted Saturday hours ran from 13:00 to 1:00. Sunday, from 11:00 to 23:00. Camping ran from Friday the 12th in the afternoon to Monday the 15th in the afternoon. Entry, before the fee, was 38 euros for Saturday, 38 for Sunday, 58 for both days, and 68 with camping. It was not full. There were no long queues. During Matthew Dekay's set it rained hard and people stayed. The Sheer's tent filled with that rain. Lucien Foort's sound dropped out. The crowd held the gap and he went on.

The Saturday bill on the main stage listed Freestylers live, Phats & Small, Marko of LaRocca, Benjamin Bates, Quazar live, Flash Republic live, Lucien Foort, and Sandeep. On house, Eric de Man, Roog, Brian S, Marcella, Nick-K, Dunca de la Funk and DD All Stars live, Base, and Jochem. On tech house, Marco Bailey, Johannes Heil live, Jamie Anderson, Benny Rodrigues, Secret Cinema live, René Amesz, Jay Samuel, and Flash Gordon. In the 3FM tent, Brainpower live, Don Diablo, Joost van Bellen, Egbert Jan Weeber, Full Flavoured Dip live, Juan Sanchez with a guitar, Phunck, and Jim Aasgier. That night, among others, Benjamin Bates, Freestylers, and Secret Cinema played.

On Sunday the main stage listed Junior Jack and Kid Creme, Dr. Kucho, Matthew Dekay, Postmen live, Gene Farris, Soulvation live, 100% Isis, and Bart van Wissen. On house, Benny Rodrigues, Sebastien Léger, Erick E, Victor Coral, Johnny Kelvin, Cleon Macnack, Don Londi, and Dominggus. On tech house, Kenny Larkin, Steve Rachmad, Joris Voorn live, Remy, Tony Thomas, Rho, 16 BIT Lolita's, and Eloy. In 3FM, Beef live, Chuckie, The Sheer live, Laidback Luke, Di-rect in a DJ set, Edwin Diergaarde versus Mr. Beatz, Hitmeister D, and Big Rob. Chuckie arrived a quarter of an hour late to a full tent. Laidback Luke covered that gap. Chuckie put on records by Audio Bullies, by The Prodigy, dance classics, and the track En Nu Ga Je Dansen Klootzak. Junior Jack, Dr. Kucho, Postmen, Brian S, Roog, Victor Coral, and Benny Rodrigues were also on the day.

To get in there is a search. Anyone who refuses does not get through. Zero tolerance on drugs. A valid, undamaged ID is required. On Saturday and Sunday, if you leave the festival grounds, you do not come back in. You can leave the camping, but not to shop and come back with the bag. You may bring a little food and a little drink, the size of a small bag. Delivery orders do not come in: no pizza, no kebab, no chips. No pets. No gas stoves. Glass, propane sprays, fireworks, and umbrellas do not come in. You do not climb a fence. The water park and the wakeboard lane are closed: anyone who goes in there leaves the grounds. Smoking is allowed, not inside the tents. Provocative clothes, such as a full-colour football shirt, do not get through, nor violence, nor harassment. Anyone who is drunk leaves. The same if you take more medication than you need. A party tent can be taken down if it sits wrong or does not fit. After close, no loud music: there are neighbours.

From 30 July to 2 August 2026 one list puts the weekend in Roermond. Another splits it from 31 July to 2 August. Both dates stay. Entry ran from 72.50 to 165 euros, depending on the type. The low price held until Sunday 5 April and then went up. The bill added Bizzey, Bokoesam, Broederliefde, Idaly, Lijpe, Lil Kleine (also Lil' Kleine), La Fuente, Yellow Claw, Monica Geuze, Benny Rodrigues, Dennis Quin, Ferreck Dawn, Funkerman, Gregor Salto (on one list, Solato) with Lerøy, Prunk, Tjade, Smèrrig Diskjochies, Mr. Polska, Yung Felix, FeestDJRuud, Freddy Moreira with Poke, Firstman (also F1rstman), and Kleine John with Chavanté. On the grounds there are builds, games, theatre, and a water-pistol fight.

What gets lost goes to the municipality of Roermond. On 11 August the ticket partner sent back the deposit on the silent-disco headphones. If the payment was by credit card, the return takes a little longer.
