Sound City

Sound City is a new-music stretch spread across rooms in central Liverpool, with the Sound City+ conference on Friday and the shows on Saturday and Sunday. Liverpool Sound City Limited runs it, company number 06507002, incorporated on 18 February 2008. The registered office is Studio F, 16 Jordan Street, Liverpool, L1 0BP. The managing director is Becky Ayres. The published mail is beckyayres@soundcity.uk.com and the phone is 0151 558 0422. There is no campsite. People sleep in the city. Between one room and the next they walk, mostly through Ropewalks. The car stays off that circuit of doors.

The stretch already lived is 1 to 3 May 2026. The conference took Friday and the rooms took Saturday and Sunday. A review in The Indie Scene, on 4 May, walks Ropewalks: Spanish Caravan, The Jacaranda, Tunnel, Arts Club Theatre, Arts Club Loft, Kazimier Stockroom, The Shipping Forecast and the dome of Grand Central. At The Jacaranda on Saturday the queue ran into the street and a one-in, one-out rule held. Outside, a drumming group took the pavement. The next day that gap was taken by a hearse full of amplifiers. Campus Label put on loose shows around the district. The timetable lived in the app, not on paper: the same review misses posters for anyone without a phone. Shindie calls those dates the 19th year. The 2025 papers called that May the 18th edition. Both counts are in print. An eFestivals sheet also names EBGB's and, as the big room, Mountford Hall, in the students' union. The reviews of those days put the close in Grand Central.

SeeTickets sells the pass. The eFestivals sheet for that May lists 39.50 pounds for a day, 67.50 for the two show days and 119.50 if the Friday conference sits on the same ticket. The questions page separates a conference-plus-rooms pass, a pass for both show days, a one-day pass and a conference-only pass, plus the accessibility companion. The box office on the days themselves, if it opens, costs more than buying ahead. Bundobust has been the food partner since 2022: first floor of 17-19 Bold Street, L1 4DN, vegetarian Indian food and ale. With the wristband, from 1 to 3 May 2026, there was 20 percent off food and drink. The centre has more bars and kitchens between rooms. They publish no bus that links the doors.

The published ages change with the room. Grand Central, the main room, is 16 and over. Arts Club admits from 14. The other rooms are 18. Anyone under 18 comes in with an adult. They ask for a government ID and they run Challenge 25: if the door doubts the age, it asks for the paper. Each room has a different step for anyone who moves with difficulty, and the text itself says it cannot promise the whole grounds. The mail is accessibility@soundcity.uk.com. Weapons, drugs, drones, professional video gear, barbecues, glass, and outside food and drink stay out of the rooms. If a room adds another rule, the question goes to that door.

The company is born on 18 February 2008, the same year the papers place the first gathering. The BBC guide for May 2025 put Saturday and Sunday doors at 12:00, and the Friday conference at FACT, with a BPI opening address at 09:30 and a close at 17:00, across eight rooms in the centre. That guide belongs to that May, not to a clock repeated for 2026: the 2026 reviews do not reprint an opening time. Volunteers cover photos, artist liaison and the box office. The page says many have later moved into paid work in the house. There are two training paths, LAUNCH for the industry and the artist programme. On the current page the applications are closed. The app timetable usually goes up about seven days before the doors.

The bed is in Liverpool, not on a meadow. Lime Street is the rail station, and the walk from there is the way through the centre. Bold Street sits a few minutes on foot from the dome. The questions page also says that stock at the door, when any is left, stays dearer than the online price. Bold Street and Ropewalks hold the food, the queues and the door of Grand Central. The homepage already prints another spring. That date is not counted here as lived. The map that was walked is the one from May 2026: several small rooms, one large dome, a conference on Friday and the city as the corridor.
