Park Sounds

Park Sounds was the Saturday festival at Huskvarna Folkets Park, in Sweden. It no longer happens. It starts in 2017. SVT, on 5 February 2025, reports that the park stops it: ticket sales fall and artist fees rise. The year before, on 22 May 2024, the same outlet says they cancel at short notice the Saturday of the 25th, over the books. That bill is not walked. In 2020 and 2021 there is a pause. The site parksounds.se, read on 28 September 2026, returns 403 and is kept, and is not used as text.

The park dates from 1925. Messed!Up, on 21 May 2018, calls Park Sounds the successor of Popadelica, another one-day festival with three stages, from 2006 to 2013, in the same grounds. In 2018, 1,400 tickets sell out. The ceiling is the indoor room Teaterladan. setlist.fm also puts Rotundan on the 2022 and 2023 dates. The 2024 cancellation page, on the park's site, opens the gate at 15:00 and lists 495 kronor plus 55 in fees. Rebecka Fridström, chair of the association 1934, signs that notice as the organiser. Chrille Peterson, of the park, is the voice of the 2025 close. Per-Magnus Söder, in SVT, says the money weighed and that fewer tickets sold than for other summer dates.

The 2018 Saturday with titles is 19 May, according to setlist.fm. The review comes out on the 21st. Sarah Klang, in a shorter set than the one in Norrköping the week before, sings Left Me on Fire, Rock N Roll Blues and Mind. High Tyde open with In Your Head. The voice is Cody Thomas-Matthews. Young Offenders and Glow are also heard. The British band Dead! cancel. Hurula fills Teaterladan. Robert Hurula, with a debut in 2014, opens with Allt ska försvinna. Jonna Löfgren, of Glasvegas, is on drums. Varje ensam natt, from the EP Oss är allt, follows. The crowd answers most to 22, Ny drog and Ont som jag. On Om jag tänker alls, bassist Manuela Iwansson has a fault and Johan Gustafsson, bassist of The Hives, helps.

Jeff Rosenstock, in the small room, plays Yr throat and Festival song. Tove Styrke, back in Teaterladan, sings On the Low and the cover of Lorde's Liability. The Hives close. Howlin' Pelle jokes, in the review, that bands who copy them are nine times better: that is his line, not a measurement. They open with Come On!, then Idiot Walk and Main Offender. Against a Reading show in 2014, the note hears two new songs: Paint a Picture and Stick Up. Tick Tick Boom stretches, with the crowd sitting down. The encore brings Stick Up and Return the Favour.

The 2019 Saturday is 18 May, again according to setlist.fm. Messed!Up publishes on the 26th. Säkert!, Annika Norlin's project, opens with Snooza. The review estimates about 800 people and seven on stage. They sing Allt som är ditt, which the note calls a song about abuse, and Dian Fossy, the review's spelling, about the birth of her daughter. People nearby cry. A remark from younger friends leads her to Det ska hända dig med. MaidaVale, on the smaller stage, draws from the record Madness is Too Pure, with no titles in the note. Lion, with Beth Lowen, makes Self Control one of the strong songs live. The drummer the note names in Cult of Luna is Thomas Hedlund, who also plays with Deportees and Phoenix. Junior Brielle plays VM 94, with lines from Karin Boye's poem I rörelse, and Dovas. The encore is Forever & Ever. The live drummer is Wilma Wall. Kite, from Småland, opens with True Colors and follows with Dance Again. Niklas Stenemo's monitor fails and there is no encore. The lights are by Gustaf Lerne. Queen Zee sings Loner and I Hate Your New Boyfriend, and kicks a monitor toward the pit. Cult of Luna opens with The Silent Man, with two drum kits. Spielbergs, live in Sweden for the first time, opens with Ghost Boy and closes with We Are All Going To Die. Teddybears end the day with Ahead of My Time, Yours to Keep and Punkrocker.

setlist.fm dates two further gatherings, 10 September 2022 and 27 May 2023, without these notes walking them song by song. The cancelled 2024 bill, in SVT, names The Vaccines, Augustine, Loney Dear, Yaeger, Pkew Pkew Pkew, Svart Ridå, Nadia Tehran, Tender Youth and Dalmatin. That is an announcement, not a night. Gaffa, on 5 February 2025, quotes Peterson: it weighs on him to leave a place where people came for two names and found others. The song Messed!Up closes 2018 with is Return the Favour, after Tick Tick Boom. The 2019 close, with Teddybears, includes Punkrocker.
