About the festival

XXXPERIENCE is not just an electronic music festival in Brazil. It is one of those brands that carries memory, dust, road trips, sunrises, generations of ravers and a huge part of the story of how electronic music moved from being a secret for a few into a mass culture in the country. Born in 1996, long before large electronic festivals had become an obvious formula, it began as a rave among friends led by Rica Amaral, with a simple and powerful idea: leave the urban chaos behind, go into nature and listen to a different kind of sound.

That origin matters because XXXPERIENCE was not born as a corporate product or as a Brazilian copy of a European model. It came from the dance floor, from curiosity, from the need to bring together people who wanted to experience something different. In its early years, psytrance was its great heart. The music was not only entertainment; it was journey, trance, community, dawn, connection with the environment and a way of escaping the city for a few hours. That root explains why, even when the festival grew, diversified and hosted huge names from global electronic music, it kept a rave aura that is hard to manufacture.

The history of XXXPERIENCE is also the history of Brazilian electronic music growing up. It was a protagonist of the mega-rave boom, helped form audiences, pushed artists, opened space for scenes that once felt niche and gathered huge crowds in Itu. There is something very Brazilian in that expansion: a party that begins almost like an adventure among friends and becomes a national meeting point, with buses, groups from different cities, flags, shirts, caravans, promises of “this year I’m finally going” and memories that are told like personal legends.

Itu, in São Paulo state, became an emotional reference inside that history. It is not only a location on the map; it is part of the brand’s imagination. For many fans, saying XXXPERIENCE means thinking of travel, open fields, heat, large-scale production, stages, visuals, dust, exhaustion and the feeling that day can become night and night can become morning without the music letting go of the body. The 30-year edition, held in 2026 under the spirit of Back to Essence, reinforced precisely that look backward: returning to psytrance, nature, creative freedom and the collective energy of the early editions.

Musically, XXXPERIENCE has had several lives. It was deeply psytrance, then opened itself to more branches of electronic music, welcomed EDM, house, techno and international trance artists, and in its anniversary edition returned strongly to its psychedelic root. That ability to change without forgetting where it came from is one of its defining traits. It can bring together veterans who lived the old-school scene and younger fans who discovered psytrance in a completely different era. On the same dance floor, you can find people coming for Infected Mushroom, Astrix or Ace Ventura next to others drawn by Vini Vici, Blazy, Blastoyz or Brazil’s newer generation.

The real experience of attending has a lot of physical ritual in it. It is not only buying a ticket and standing in front of a stage. It means planning the trip, reaching the São Paulo countryside, finding your group, entering early, lasting for hours, hydrating, walking, getting lost, finding people again, watching the light change and feeling the festival gain a different personality as the night unfolds. The XXXPERIENCE crowd does not only listen to music; it moves through it.

What makes XXXPERIENCE different is its historical weight. In Brazil, few electronic brands can speak with so much authority about rave, psytrance, evolution, scale and resistance. It is not perfect, it is not static and it does not belong to just one era. It is a living memory of Brazilian electronic music: a party that began as an escape and became a home for thousands of people who found, between basslines, nature and sunrises, their own way of understanding freedom.
